Koivu ja Kuusi Wilderness Center helps Ukrainians
We accommodate Ukrainians and organize further training for them
The first ukrainians arrived in February 2023
In February 2023, Ukrainian people in need of temporary protection arrived at the Koivu and Kuusi Center. They were accommodated in the center and some of them have completed postgraduate studies in agriculture at Mustiala Agricultural College.
Training
Häme University of Applied Sciences is also participating in a project coordinated by Verona, focused on rebuilding Ukraine. The program primarily offers Ukrainian university students under special protection 60 ECTS (18 months) of educational content in sustainable agriculture, product processing, and entrepreneurship. Meanwhile, Verona's experts provide business administration training at the Eräkeskus facilities for those interested in pursuing this field.
Upon completing the program, the Ukrainian participants return to their homeland as agricultural entrepreneurs, equipped with new business models, entrepreneurial skills, and valuable networks to help rebuild their country.
Premises
For the past few months, Koivu and Kuusi at Eräkeskus have been working hard to ensure everything is ready for the arrival of Ukrainian residents. You can read more in the story featured by Forssan Lehti.
The apartments, which will soon become homes, have been renovated and refurbished, while the entire facility has undergone updates. In addition to the apartments, the main building now includes camp rooms and upgraded washroom facilities. Meanwhile, the moped museum has found a new home in front of the main building."
